8/31/2023 0 Comments Dragon keepers books![]() Hundreds of years later, the Zebak took the strongest of the Rin slaves as warriors to fight against the Travelers and the Maris-folk. Above their abandoned home, the companions lay dying and the Bukshah were kept from Mountain Heart, leaving the creepers to breed and multiply. The people of the Valley of Gold, enslaved by the Zebak, founded the first village of Rin behind the walls of the Zebak city. The Mountain wall, undermined by the roots of the trees, collapsed, and Mountain Heart was blocked, sealing the companions inside. As the snow receded, the Mountain berries in the Valley spread, and overnight the abandoned Valley was overrun by the devil trees, transformed into the abhorred Pit of Unrin. When the Bukshah left the Valley for Mountain Heart, the three companions followed them, hiding in the cave after the beasts had left. The people of the Valley left for the coast, but the keeper of the bukshah remained with the keeper of the silks, and soon one warrior returned - the people of the Valley had been captured by the Zebak before they'd even reached the coast. Many years later, the people of the Valley of Gold discovered the mountain berries, but that winter, before the berries completed their life-cycle, the Zebak took a foothold in Maris and messengers were sent to the Valley asking for reinforcements. The people eventually allowed the Bukshah to climb the mountain again, and the balance was restored - but they never told their Traveller friends the Mountain's secret. However, this also made the ice creepers more populous, causing the first Cold Time. The people of this Valley learned the secrets of Mountain Heart, and deliberately prevented the bukshah from traveling up there the fungus, uneaten, caused the river to flow with greater pressure, giving the people of the Valley more gold and riches. The valley behind the Mountain was eventually settled, and named the Valley of Gold. The bukshah were sustained for the winter, and the heat from the river of molten gold at Mountain Heart radiated into the ice creepers' cavern, maintaining a balance that controlled the population of the ice creepers and subdued the elemental rage in Mountain Heart. Long before the time of humans, the bukshah traveled up the Mountain every winter to feast on a grey fungus produced by the ice creepers. ![]() Further east, across the Silver Sea, lies the continent of Deltora. ![]() Across the sea, to the east, lies the Land of the Zebak the Zebak territory is a desert, its city reunited in steel walls and protected from land threats by the desolate, hazard-ridden Wastelands. When there is an empty space, the memory is used more efficiently. The elements in a circular queue act as a ring, meaning the last element is connected to the first element. Linear queues and circular queues are actually quite similar. ![]() Alternately, if the element with the lowest value has the highest priority, it will create a queue with an increasing order of values. For example, if the element with the highest value has priority, it creates a queue with a decreasing order of values. The priority queue arranges elements in a queue based on some priority. In a simple queue, also known as a linear queue, the insertion of elements, called enqueue operations, occurs at the backend, and the removal of elements, known as dequeue operations, occurs at the frontend. There are four major types of queues in Kotlin: a simple queue, priority queue, circular queue, and double-ended queue. In Kotlin, we can use queues to manage large amounts of data with ease or to handle inter-process communication. Another application is a mailing queue, which involves a directory that stores data and controls files for mail messages. In addition, queues are used in network devices like a switch or router. Finally, a queue functions as a waiting list for a single shared resource. These jobs, which are assigned to the processor, are organized in a queue. Job scheduling occurs when a computer is scheduled to execute a particular number of jobs one after another. Multi programming involves multiple programs running in a system’s main memory organizing these programs in a queue ensures orderliness in the system. Some important applications of the Kotlin queue include multi programming, network and job scheduling, and shared resources. These methods exist in two forms, those that throw an exception when the operations fail, and others that return a special value like null, true, or false. Essentially, a queue is a collection designed for holding elements prior to processing.Īside from the basic collection operations, Kotlin queues provide additional operations like insertion, extraction, and inspection. The queue functions as a buffer anywhere data or an event is stored to be processed later. The importance of the queue in Android development cannot be overstated. Why do we need queues in Android development? The most popular implementation of the queue interface is the LinkedList, while others include ArrayDeque and PriorityQueue. Let’s get started! What is a Kotlin queue?Ī queue is a type of interface collection in Kotlin that enables you to structure your data in a more efficient manner based on your chosen preference.

They also wonder why the ships are painted black. ![]() With the holds needed to stock supplies, the 24 men on the Nina and the 26 men on the Pinta slept on deck when not taking shifts hoisting the massive sails and steering the heavy tiller. ![]() Visitors are usually amazed about how confining the ships were, Sanger said. We’re lucky to get dock space for two ships.” It would have to be stationary somewhere. “The Santa Maria wouldn’t have been able to get up this river. “The question always comes up: Why don’t we have the Santa Maria?” Sanger said. Columbus wrote in his journal that he regarded the Santa Maria as too heavy, difficult to sail and unsuitable for the purpose of exploration. The foundation has decided not to proceed with a reconstruction of the Santa Maria, a freighter that ran aground and sank off present-day Haiti on the first voyage. Although its Nina is regarded as an exact replica, the foundation’s Pinta is 15 feet longer and eight feet wider than the original to accommodate more people. In 2005, the foundation launched its 101-ton version of the Pinta, also built in Brazil. In December 1991, the new Nina went on its 4,000-mile maiden voyage to Costa Rica to appear in the Ridley Scott movie “1492.” Since then the 75-ton ship has visited more than 300 ports in the United States. In 1988, the late engineer and maritime historian John Patrick Sarsfield started building the replica of the 15th century caravel in Brazil with shipwrights who used the same tools as the original craftsmen - axes, hand saws, chisels. In Columbus’ day, however, boatwrights did not put their plans on paper.Īfter two years of research, including consulting documents about how many supplies the ships carried, logs about the tonnage and the length of its keel, the organization figured out enough measurements to proceed with re-creating the Nina. The foundation formed in 1986 with the mission of building replicas of all three ships in Columbus’ fleet. flag and flags of the Spanish monarchy appeared in the Manatee River on Wednesday morning and docked in Palmetto after a 16-hour, overnight voyage from Fort Myers - announcing their arrival with a customary powder charge from a cannon. The Columbus Foundation in the British Virgin Islands created and owns the floating museums, which dock at 30 to 40 locations each year for public tours. “But they’re not in good shape and don’t go anywhere.” The Spanish government built replicas for the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ first of four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean to what would become known as North America, Sanger said. “These are considered the most accurate replicas ever built,” skipper Stephen Sanger said. Starting today, replicas of the Nina and Pinta can be viewed by the public at the Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto. The vessels manned by explorer Christopher Columbus and his crews in 1492 were, for that era, the equivalent of today’s rockets - a means of discovering uncharted worlds. As every schoolchild knows, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria are among history’s most famous ships. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Megadeth rust in peace versionĭespite the inner band turbulance, critics and fans alike were waiting with baited breath for a new Megadeth album and on September 24th, 1990, ‘ Rust in Peace‘ was released to the world via Capital Records. Now considered to be the ‘ classic‘ Megadeth line-up, Mustaine, Ellefson, Friedman and Menza went about recording ‘ Rust in Peace‘ at Rumbo Studios, California in late 1989, with famed producers, Mike Clink and Max Norman. Mustaine brought back former Megadeth guitarist, Chris Poland to work on the ealy demos for ‘ Rust.’ before former Deuce/ Vixen/ Hawaii/ Cacophony shredder, Marty Friedman landed the job. The position for Megadeth’s new guitarist fuelled its fair share of rumours which included Heathen’s, Lee Altus, Savatage’s Criss Olivia, Annihilator’s Jeff Waters and even Pantera’s legendary Darryl ‘Dimebag’ Abbot, however nothing came of it. The song charted high in both the UK and America but the band were ferverishly searching for a replacement to Young to keep the positive momentum rolling. The very first Megadeth release featuring Menza was an Alice Cooper cover of ‘ No More Mr Nice Guy‘ as part of the soundtrack to Wes Craven’s, ‘ Shocker‘ movie. ![]() Whether any of this is true, is anyone’s guess, but adds a little ridiculas humour to Mustaine’s history, which we must not forget, includes the story of his ejection from Metallica for ‘ kicking James Hetfield’s dog‘!! You can’t make this stuff up, folks!!Īnyway, fast forward to 1988 with Mustaine recruiting ex- Rhoads drummer, Nick Menza, who coincidentally had been Beehler’s drum tech. Upon their return and prior to the writing process for ‘ Rust in Peace‘, former guitarist Young and Behler were shown the door, followed by Mustaine launching a vitriolic cascade of abuse towards Young, even going as far as to suggest that he was in love with former Warlock vocalist Doro Pesch, claiming that he was seething with jealosy because Mustaine was receiving love letters from Pesch ! ![]() The end of Young and Behler came shortly after a disasterious drug-fueled run of just seven European dates supporting Iron Maiden culmination in a fateful performance at the UK’s Monster of Rock Festival on August 20th, 1988. Their previous studio efford was received with mixed emotions from critics, with Mustain’s addiction issues, becoming more of a headline than the music itself. With three studio albums behind them and a tempestious history of line-up changes, this was somewhat of a crucial moment in the bands legacy and they couldn’t afford to miss the target. Born from a place of anger, spite, frustration and revenge, fontman Dave Mustaine was hell-bent on proving to the world that he was faster, heavier and technichally more profishent with his shredding talents than both Hammet and Hetfield, combined. We all know the story of Megadeth’s infamous formation. Released on September 24th 1990, ‘Rust in Peace’ boasts nine viciously-crafted virtuosic compositions that propelled the bands success to great heights. Today marks the 30th anniversary of Megadeth’s’ finest hour. When the Nespresso Pixie by Krups is first removed from the box, there’s very little set-up required. Espresso dispenses a 1.4 fl.oz/ 40ml shot, while lungo dispenses a longer 3.9 fl.oz/ 110ml coffee. Then, to make a drink, you pull down the handle and select either espresso or lungo. When the large handle is pushed into the upright position, the spout moves forward to reveal the area in which you insert the capsule. Pressing the espresso button wakes up the coffee maker, and it will automatically switch off after nine minutes. |
